The National Lottery was thrilled to announce that the Euromillions numbers called on Friday created a multi million pound win for one very lucky family from the United Kingdom. The family syndicate swept into fourth place on the National Lottery’s Rich List with their eye-watering win of £29.6 million, according to Camelot.

The four member family syndicate has come forward to claim their prize, which consisted of half the massive EuroMillions jackpot.

The only winners from the UK to have won an amount larger than the family’s are Les and Sam Scadding of South Wales who took home £45.5 million, together with another syndicate from Liverpool.

Speaking about the latest win, a spokeswoman for the National Lottery said: “It is fantastic to have another EuroMillions winner here in the UK. We have plenty of champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the ticket holder into our millionaire’s club.”

For those who are keen to eat their hearts out, the winning numbers on the EuroMillions were 11, 26, 29, 49 and 50. Four and Seven were the Lucky Stars.

One of the members of the four family syndicate, 76 year old cabbie, George Sturt, was obviously thrilled with his win but said that he would donate the majority to charity. His three children, Colin, Gary and Teresa, would all get a quarter of the windfall.

“I don't care about having a lot of money,” said George, who is a widower. “I'm just glad my children will be looked after. I really want other people to benefit from this money.”

George Sturt said that despite his win, he has no plans for retiring from his job that he enjoys so much. “I won't give up working as a taxi driver. I've met too many nice people through it,” he said.

A family member said: “We're all absolutely over the moon. It could not have happened to a nicer family. It still hasn't sunk in yet.”

During an emotional press conference on Tuesday, the family toasted their good luck and mentioned their late mother, George’s wife. “She loved the children and she will be so happy that they are all taken care off,” said George. “She will have a big grin on her face.”
